Legal Process and Law Enforcement Requests
Effective September 1, 2026.
This page is for law enforcement, regulators and civil litigants seeking data held by Bronze Venture LLC. It is published so that the process is predictable rather than negotiated one demand at a time.
Nothing on this page is a promise to withhold data we are lawfully required to produce, and nothing on it waives any objection we may raise.
What we hold, and what we do not
We do business only with United States entities, and everything described below is held in the United States.
For a customer of a hosted OpenChime workspace, we hold the contents of that workspace — messages, attachments and workspace structure — because we operate the machine it runs on. The OpenChime Privacy Notice sets out exactly what that is.
For anyone running their own OpenChime server, we hold nothing. We have no access to that server and no means of obtaining what is on it. A demand served on us cannot produce data we do not have; it has to go to whoever operates the server.
What we require
| What you are seeking | What we require |
|---|---|
| Basic subscriber information: account email, name, subscription dates | A subpoena, or equivalent valid legal process |
| Non-content records: logs, workspace metadata | A court order, or equivalent |
| Contents of communications: messages, attachments | A search warrant, issued on probable cause |
We do not accept requests by telephone, and we do not treat an email describing an investigation as legal process.
How to serve us
Send legal process to legal@bronzeventure.com.
Include the requesting agency or firm, the name and contact details of the requesting official, the legal authority you are relying on, and the specific account — identified by workspace or by account email. A request that does not identify a specific account cannot be actioned, and we will not search across customers to find one.
We tell the customer
Our policy is to notify the affected customer before we produce their data, so that they have the opportunity to seek protective relief. We will not do so where the law or a court order prohibits it, or where we believe there is a risk of harm to a person.
If your request carries a non-disclosure requirement, it must state the legal authority for that requirement and how long it lasts. We do not treat a request to keep something quiet as binding without one.
Emergencies
Where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent death or serious physical injury, we may disclose the information we reasonably think will help, without process. Mark such a request EMERGENCY and describe the nature of the emergency, the person at risk, and why what you are asking for will help.
Preservation
We will honour a valid preservation request for a specific account for 90 days, extendable once on request, while process is obtained.
Costs
We may seek reimbursement for the costs of responding, to the extent the law permits.
